ILKLEY Chamber Orchestra is set to present a ‘Spring Serenade’.
Ilkley Chamber Orchestra was founded last year by conductor John Anderson.
“I felt there was a need for a really good quality chamber orchestra in the area, and the response from the concert going public has been terrific,” said John. “We have had three excellent concerts to date and our last concert, which featured Vivaldi’s wonderful ‘The Four Seasons’, attracted a capacity audience.”
Their next concert offers a rare opportunity to hear works written specifically for wind ensemble. Gounod’s delightful Petite Symphonie opens the programme, followed by the Serenade No. 11 in E flat by Mozart.
The concert concludes with a performance of Dvorak’s Wind Serenade in D minor. This is a remarkable piece, full of exciting Czech rhythms and beautiful melodies - a youthful Dvorak at his best.
The concert takes place at All Saints’ Parish Church, Ilkley, on Saturday, April 27 at 7.30pm.
Tickets £12, £10, £5 are available online at Eventbrite, The Grove Bookshop, telephone: 01943 609335 or at the door.
