A long-serving conductor has finally laid down his baton after 23 years with an orchestra for the over-50s.
Stanley Evans recently retired from his role with Ilkley’s New Horizons Concert Orchestra, after conducting since the orchestra formed in 1988.
Mr Evans, who was invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace last year in recognition of his long community service, passed on his conductor’s baton to David Dawson at the orchestra’s recent annual meeting.
The orchestra has more than 45 members, including musicians of all abilities.
