A girl who made medical history is celebrating her third birthday with her first party.
Medics used pioneering drug treat-ment to save the life of Gabrysia Filarowski when she was seriously ill after a heart transplant.
Now the technique they used on her has been used to save the life of another child.
Gabrysia, who lives with her dad Andrew, 44, mum Angela, 33, brother Thomas, 14, and sister Ania, 11, in Horsforth, was born with a rare heart condition. She was close to death when she received her new heart 20 months ago.
Her parents said they could never give enough thanks to the medics who saved her life and to the donor family.
Gabrysia, who was seriously ill for her first birthday and in isolation for her second, is now able to celebrate properly with a party for her friends, organised by her sister.
